The ExoPC tablet has gotten a lot of attention for its unique user interface which is designed to make Windows 7 easier to use on a touchscreen device. Pre-orders for the US version of the ExoPC are expected to start in a few days, but it looks like the slate computer will also be available soon in Canada and Portugal — just under different names.
Netbook News reports that Portuguese retailer Probitas is selling the tablet as the Mobi One. That model will set you back 692€, or about $965 US. In Canada you can pick up a Ciara Vibe tablet, which is basically the same machine at a much more reasonable price: about $599 and up (or $649 Canadian).
The tablet features an 11.6″ 1366 x 768 pixel display with a capacitive multitouch screen. It has 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, optional 3G, HDMI, USB, mic and headphone jacks as a well as an SD card slot, stereo speakers and a built in mic.It also has an accelerometer, 3-axis sensor, ambient light sensor, and 1.3MP camera.
The ExoPC has a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, 2GB of DDR2 memory and is available with 32GB or 64GB of solid state storage. It measures 11.6″ x 7.7″ x 0.55″ and weighs less than 2.3 pounds.
European prices twice those in Canada?
Might as well not bother sending any over with that policy: we do have the internet here you know…!
NB Probitas pricing is not up to date – they are still ironing out their site. An updated price will appear shortly
Brad: apparantly exopc is only taking direct preorders from members of their forum pre 10/2/10. The rest of us need to wait until its available at retail, so it’s going to be the Canadien version, or wait for an announcement for the US.
where can we preorder in US? when will they be available?
I ask with urgency because I work for the US Navy, and our code is looking for a 3g windows-enabled tablet to demo some software on. I have a very short deadline, and it couldn’t be more inconvenient that now’s the time for the tablet explosion.
You can place a pre-order, but while early orders should start shipping soon, I’m not sure how long it will take to start fulfilling new orders.

Alternately, you might want to look at the CTL 2goPad, which is supposed to start shipping later this week. In both cases, if you’re on deadline I’d suggest giving the company a call and talking to a service rep to verify the ship date before placing an order.
