The Gigabyte T1005M is a 10 inch mini-laptop with a touchscreen display that you can fold down over the keyboard or use in tablet mode. What sets it apart from earlier Gigabyte convertible netbooks, the T1005M has a dual core Intel Atom N550 processor and a capacitive touchscreen display. Earlier models has resistive displays and single core chips.

The new model also has a new chiclet-style keyboard, a USB 3.0 port, and a redesigned hinge with a sturdier build. It also has an eSATA port and a USB 2.0 port.

Nicole from Netbook News got a chance to check out the new Gigabyte T1005M in person and she seemed pretty impressed with most of the features, although the 6 cell. 7650mAh battery is rather large and unwieldy in the back, and the touchpad is awfully small and has buttons on the left and right side instead of in front of it.

We’ll have to wait a little longer for reviews to start popping up, but you can pre-order the Gigabyte T1005M today from Amazon for $599.99.

You can check out Nicole’s hands-on video after the break.

  1. Too bad there’s only one USB3 port. I’m still interested in something like this, would like a (multi touch) OLED screen and the choice to have linux preloaded (or just no OS at all) instead of windows (why do I have to pay for windows when I would install linux anyway?)
Oh yeah, some kind of haptic feedback on the screen would be awesome too.

  2. I have the earlier 1028x and love it. the only problem I have wit hit is there is no backlight for the keyboard. If the Keyboard was even just white or beige or silver or.. well.. just NOT BLACK.. it would be perfect.

I actually prefer the touchpads with the buttons on the left and right. I mean massively. I can’t vouch for the rest of the human race, but I know that my finders grow out of my hand side by side. That makes using the layout of this sort of keypad much more natural.

While this particular machine is not quite enough for me to upgrade from my 1028x, once the newer more efficient CPUs and GPUs hit it for the next round of updates I will be very, very tempted.

Also would like to see Gigabyte make the Desktop Docking Stations for this like as well. Would come in VERY handy and make this line for me an all in one solution, not just a great out of the home or office solution.

  3. What’s the estimated battery life?
I am very interested but for the fact that max RAM is only 2GB.
