Don’t feel like shelling out big bucks for a Samsung Galaxy Tab? There are plenty of cheap Android tablets from companies you’ve never heard of. And while for the most part you get what you pay for, at least your wallet won’t feel all that much lighter after you plunk down the cash on a device like the Augen GenTouch78 or the WiiPad.

Now it looks like UK retailer Next is also getting in on the action by offering a cheap 10 inch Android tablet for £180, or about $284 US.

The Next tablet has a 10.1 inch, 1024  x 600 pixel resistive touchscreeen display, a 1GHz ARM 11 CPU, 256MB of RAM, and 8GB of storage.

It runs Google Android 2.1 and has 802.11b/g WiFi as well as an optional connector for Ethernet connections. The tablet has 2 USB ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a G-Sensor, and a microSD card slot.

The tablet measures 10.6″ x 7″ x 0.6″ and weighs about 1.5 pounds.

Update: PDA-247 has posted a review of the Next tablet. Apparently the build quality is awful. Performance is sluggish. Viewing angles are poor. And the battery died after just 30 minutes of viewing web pages. Seriously. 30 minutes.
