The Asus Eee PC 1015PEM is the first 10 inch netbook from Asus with a 1.5GHz dual core Intel Atom N550 processor. It’s expected to launch today at retailers including Amazon and J&R.

In addition to the dual core processor, the netbook features DDR3 memory and either a 250GB or 320GB hard drive depending on the model. It comes with USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 technology as well as 802.11b/g/n WiFi.

The laptop will be available in red, blue, pink, black, or white colors.

Asus will ship the Eee PC 1015PEM with Windows 7 Starter Edition and 1GB of RAM. The computer has a 0.3MP camera and will come with three different battery options: 48Whr, 56Whr, or 63Whr depending on the configuration. The netbook measures 10.3″ x 7″ x 1.4″ and weighs 2.8 pounds.

The Eee PC 1015PEM-PU17 will run $379, while the Eee PC 1015PEM-MU17 will come with a lower capacity battery for $349.

Update: Mobile Advance is selling the Eee PC 1015PEM for $399 + $10 shipping . I suspect if you wait a few days you may be able to get a better price though.

  1. just found out – also available on J&R for pre-order at $379 with free shipping but I do not know how reputable this site is..

  2. When exactly is this going to be available on Amazon USA? Can I pre-order now?

  3. this would be the perfect netbook if they had just put a high rez screen on.

    1. I would be curious to see if higher rez would be harder on my old eyes. Anyone seen a 10″ with more than 1024 X 600?

      1. I’m hoping that Brad can go a little bit more in depth about how good or bad it is with a 10″ screen. I don’t have the luxury of viewing as many netbooks as Brad. I think he wasn’t a huge fan of it. Based on my readings, it sounds like a sketchy resolution on the 10 inchers.

        1. Basically it depends on how good your vision is… Some people may be perfectly fine with HD at 10″ but it’s easier on the eyes at 11.6″ and above. At least with the way Windows renders icons and text at default settings.

1366×768 is also the max the ATOM LVDS controller can handle. So that would be pushing the limits of the system a bit anyway.

A lot of people though seem to want higher resolution screens. Though I think I’ll be fine with the default for now. Save the HD screens for CULV’s IMO. But a HD version may be appropriate for the 1015N/PN Nvidia ION version and/or the 1015T.

  4. It seems to be available in Italy also.

PS: there is an error in title (AMD) 🙂

    1. Why yes… yes I do. My fingers have apparently been typing AMD a lot
lately. Start them on the A button and see what happens!
