The Dell Zino HD is a small form factor desktop that looks a bit like an oversized disc drive. But like the Mac Mini, the Dell Zino HD is a fully functional — if not exactly super-powerful computer. Dell has been offering the Zino HD with a relatively low power AMD chipset for a while, but Engadget spotted some documents suggesting that a much more powerful version will be available soon.

The base model will ship with ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics and an AMD RS880M chipset which can handle AMD Athlon II, Turion II, Phenom II, and V series single, dual, triple, and quad core processors.

The computer can support up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, has SPDIF output for 7.1 channel audio, and includes options for 802.11b/g/n WiFi, a Blu-Ray drive, and higher performance ATI Mobility Radeon 5450 graphics.

The computer measures just 7.8″ x 7.8″ x 3.5″ and weighs about 4.4 pounds. There’s no word on how much the new Dell Zino HD models will cost.

You can find more information at Dell’s support site for the computers.

  1. I really like my Zino and the only upgrade I might want would be a little faster cpu. A 2.0 ghz would be nice but I don’t want to sacrifice a lot of power and the Ati 4330 is an amazing little graphics card. I bought it when it was on sale for $349. and I wish I had bought 2.
I am not easily impressed but I really like the Zino, one of Dell’s better ideas and I am not a big fan of Dell.

  2. Still over twice as large as the Mac Mini, and the only notable feature I see is the Blu-Ray drive (which admittedly, is an incredible omission on the Mini).

    1. Another notable “feature” is that a similarly configured Mac Mini will cost almost twice as much.
