The Packard Bell Dot S4 is a 10 inch netbook that’s basically what you would get if you dressed up an Acer Aspire One D260 in fancy clothes. Acer owns the Packard Bell (and Gateway) brand names, so I’ve come to expect Packard Bell laptops to look familiar. But the Packard Bell Dot S4 does have a few design tricks up its sleeve.
Notebook Italia managed to spend some time with the new netbook, and discovered that it has a rather interesting pixelized floral patern on the lid, a chiclet-style keyboard, and umm… that’s about it. Oh yeah, there’s Packard Bell branding on the lid and screen bezel instead of Acer branding.
The netbook has the usual specs, including a 10 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, and up to 250GB hard drive. The Packard Bell Dot S4 is available with a 3 or 6 cell battery and 802.11b/g/n WiFi. The netbook runs Windows 7 Starter Edition.
I haven’t seen many Packard Bell netbooks in the US, so my guess is that this model is destined for Europe.
