What do you get if you take an average netbook, remove the keyboard, throw on a capacitive touchscreen display and double the price? The eviGroup Paddle. We first got a glimpse of this 10 inch tablet in March, and now it’s available for purchase. Unfortunately, it ain’t cheap. Prices range from €599 to €699, or about $732 to $854.

The cheapest model without an operating system or 3G modem, while the €699 version packs 3G and Windows 7 Home Premium.

The rest of the specs are pretty much the same no matter which configuration you buy: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, 10.6 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, Ethernet, and a battery that’s good for between 2.5 and 3 hours of run time. You also get 3 USB ports, a VGA port, and a flash card reader.

The eviGroup Paddle weighs just under 2.2 pounds and measures 10.2″ x 6.4″  x0.87″.

It’s not a bad looking tablet. But while I know capacitive touchscreen displays aren’t cheap, I can’t help but feel like this thing is a little on the pricey side when you can pick up two or three netbooks for the same price, or about 1.5 iPads.
