Sure, Acer just introduced a Kindle-like LumiRead eBook reader with an e-Ink display and a QWERTY keyboard. But it looks like the company has a few other eBook tricks up its sleeve. The folks at Engadget got a chance to play with a prototype eBook reader from Acer at the Qualcomm booth at Computex.
The concept device has a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor and runs Google Android. It has a full color display, and really looks more like a general purpose tablet than an eBook reader, if you ask me. There are icons on the desktop for an email app and web browser, after all. But it’s not clear whether this tablet will ever see the light of day.
Fortunately, Acer is expected to launch a 7 inch Android tablet soon — it just might not be the one you’re looking at here.
