There’s no shortage of iPad knockoffs coming out of China these days. Like most, the iPed, which also seems to go by the name of the aPad, runs Google Android and seems to have a sluggish processor and limited storage. Watching the user open the app drawer is a bit like watching paint dry.

But there’s at least one reason to consider this knockoff a cut above the rest: It appears to have full access to the Android Market, which means you can easily install tens of thousands of third party apps. That’s something that most Android tablets can’t do out of the box — even though it’s a basic feature of most Android smartphones. And on the bright side, it looks like you can pick one up for about $150 or less.

The folks at ChinaGrabber have posted a few videos of the iPed/aPad, including one showing off the Android Market. You can check out the videos below, as well as a news report showing the tablets in their natural environment: in Chinese electronics shops.

I dunno. I think that importdistro has the best deal.. $159 shipped for the aPad tablet PC sold in the USA – cant really beat that. I will never buy from China again – been ripped off twice!

  2. All of these apads say “gps vis google maps.”

IS there actually a gps receiver built into these?

  3. check this:

they GARANTEE that this unit’s CPU is a GENUINE Rockchip RK2808 processor (ARM9 600 MHz + DSP 533 MHz dual-core) rather than the simpler ARM chip, Many firms offering the iRobot/Moonse/ePad etc. say that their tablets contain the RK2808 but in reality they are powered only by an ARM chip. Rockchip’s CPU was licensed from ARM and they added the DSP video processor, so it is better than the ARM.

Strongly recommand this place, just check the price for a GENUINE Rockchip RK2808 apad, definitely worthy it!
