Fujitsu launched a new 10 inch netbook this week. The Fujitsu LifeBook MH330 has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display and a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor just like every other netbook released since January. No word on when it will be available in the US, but it sells for about $500 in Singapore… and that got me thinking: Fujitsu has released several netbooks over the last few years. And they’ve all been significantly more expensive than a typical netbook. Who exactly is Fujistu hoping will buy these things?

The recently launched Fujitsu MH380 has a miniscule touchpad and a high resolution display and sells for about $450. The company’s M2010 netbook was introduced for a similar price last summer — without the high resolution display.

But with other netbooks with similar features selling for $300 to $400, why would anyone spend the extra money on a Fujitsu mini-notebook? I’ve never spoken with anyone who has actually purchased a netbook from Fujitsu. Have you? What did you think? Let us know in the poll and sound off in the comments.

Update: I should probably make it clear that when I say netbook, I mean a notebook with a 10 inch or smaller screen and a $500 or cheaper price tag. I know Fujitsu has been making ultraportables for years. But the company’s products that are comparable to other netbooks on the market are the M2010, MH380, and MH330 and possibly a few related models, most of which have sold for $450 to $500 and have Intel Atom processors.

  1. I’d love to get one.
I currently use a Fujitsu Lifebook, which I got five years ago and it runs faster than anyone else I know’s computers.

  2. I have had a Fujitsu S series Lifebook for six years now as my primary (only) computer for business and personal use. It is small, lightweight, very nice keyboard, and has not let me down once in six years. They make beautiful computers.

  3. I have owned 3 Fujitsu systems – one a Netbook. Loved every single one of them. I think they’re some of the best built systems. I used to own Toshiba computers before the Fujitsu computers and am glad I switched.

  4. I voted “no”, since I didn’t purchase one of those models. But I did own a U810 briefly when Woot had them for $400. It was a handy device, but not really in the same category as a netbook. I sold it, in favor of the Asus T91MT.

  5. I think they are neat but usually cost more than I am willing to pay. There are others that cost less. If I had the money, I would.

  6. I’ve never owned a “netbook” by Fujitsu, but they have been in the business of making ultra portable laptops for many years more than ASUS. I’ve owned (before the netbook craze) two Fujitsu B series laptops. They’re probably around 6 years old now, had 10-12 inch screens, ran Pentium M ULV or Pentium IIIm chips, didn’t have optical drives, had touchscreens, and were generally great in terms of build quality. They were also very costly at the time.

Fujitsu was way ahead of their time, but they couldn’t make them at a price that would lure in consumers like ASUS did years later.

  7. Don’t leave us hanging bro! To that one person who bought a Fijitsu you have to tell us what you bought, why, and what you think of it.

I wonder in the one “yes” vote was a mistake…

    1. I bought a fujitsu netbook right before Christmas and am quite happy with it. I paid just under $249 for the 10.1 inch screen with a 6 cell battery. I have used it lots and it is my travel buddy on trips. Just got back from Egypt and saved $$ using the mini for phone calls (skype)and internet hotel bookings. email me if you want to know more.
