A few days ago we heard about a handful of new netbook models from Asus including the Eee PC R101 and R105. But all we had to go by were a few support documents and drivers on the Asus web site. Now Amazon Germany has posted product pages for the Eee PC R101 and R101PX. Long story short, these look like slightly tweaked versions of the Asus Eee PC 1001P which is currently available.
The Eee PC R101 has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. Interestingly, it ships with Windows XP instead of Windos 7 Starter Edition. It’s not in stock yet, but it will sell for 249 Euros, or about $335 US.
The Eee PC R101PX has a somewhat higher price tag of 299 Euros, or about $402 US. That extra cash buys you a 250GB hard drive and Windows 7 Starter Edition, but the rest of the specs are the same. Unfortunately there are no pictures available yet.
I don’t expect these models to ship in the US anytime soon, but if you happen to live in Germany, or perhaps other parts of Europe, it looks like the Eee PC R101 and R101PX will likely be available soon.
Update: I just heard back from Asus. It turns out the Eee PC R101and R105 are German versions of the Eee PC 1001PX which will be launched soon in the US.
