VIA has introduced a new computer-on-a-module called the EPIA-T700. It’s the first module to use VIA’s new Mobile-ITX platform which measures just 6 centimeters by 6 centimeters. That’s just under 2.4 inches by 2.4 inches.
The platform is designed more for portability than power. The EPIA-T700 uses a 1GHz VIA Eden ULV processor, VIA Chrome9 graphics, and 512MB of RAM. The system features integrated PCI Express and Ultra DMA capabilities. The EPIA-T700 is fanless and VIA expects it to end up in dedicated applications for medical, military, or vehicular use.
The system supports display connections to LCD panels and CRT monitors. You can also add the system onto a carrier board to add support for LVDS or DVI connections.

I wrote a few days ago about putting your computer in your mouse. . .
Here, put it in the base of your trackpad…

One could probably get quite creative in the possible ‘cases’ (items not normally used to house a computer). It could be a small(er) version of the projects at Mini-Itx site.

Google and mini-itx case mods. 🙂
OK. Now someone take this and put it in a device about the size of a nintendo DS with a little screen that can handle a 640×480 VGA resolution and a tiny keyboard then let me load it up with all of my old DOS-based PC games to carry around in my pocket.
That would be really cool and nostalgic. 🙂 If it was at the right price, I would buy one. There are sites with DOS games. One could probably run FreeDOS on it. I hope some sees your suggestion and trys it. 🙂

As James said…
2.4 square inches would be 1.55″ by 1.55″
This is why I’m not a mathematician… or you know, very good at math.
Updated the title.
2.4×2.4 inches is not 2.4 square inches. It’s 5.75 square inches. It /is/ 2.4 inches squared…
