The IdeaPad U150 is Lenovo’s first entry into the thin and light space to sport an Intel Consumer Ultra Low Voltage processor. The folks at Lenovo were kind enough to send me a demo unit to review.

While the base model has a Pentium Dual Core SU4100 CPU and 3GB of RAM, the model I received has a 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo SU7300 CPU and 4GB of RAM. It sells for $749, but if you keep an eye out, Lenovo often has coupons and sales that might bring the price down a bit.

So far I’m impressed with the overall design of this laptop. It has an attractive textured lid and palm rest area that manages to be eye-catching, but pretty much fingerprint-proof. The keyboard is nice and large, although the keys feel a little cheap. And the touchpad features two distinct buttons which are very easy to use.

  1. I just got mine on Thursday.Love love it. The SU7300 is a beast.Aside: Definitely watch out for those coupons. Between the discount they were running on site and a coupon I found online, I only paid $599 for mine (the higher end model) off of lenovo.com

And the lid is slick. I have no idea what devil magic they used on it, but the back of the lid stays ice-cold to the touch all the time. It’s very weird.

    1. Nearly no flex is amazing. Some may think they’re cheap though because they’re not chiclet style like all the other newer thin-n-lights are doing. I prefer the old style, myself. Best keyboard I’ve used in a long time.
