Samsung is officially launching 4 new netbooks, all of which sport those newfangled Intel Atom Pine Trail processors. For the most part, all 4 models are pretty similar. They each have 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a scratch-resistant case, and the same 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor. But some models get better battery life than others, and some models have a few distinguishing characteristics. Here’s a brief run down:

Samsung NB30

This model is designed to be “ultra-durable” and features a water-tight seal to prevent water damage when the netbook comes in contact with up to 50cc of water. You’ll need to remove that water within 10 seconds though.

The NB30 also has a sensor that parks the hard drive when you drop your computer to help prevent damage and data loss. Samsung says this model gets up to 11 hours of battery life.

Samsung N150

This model looks like the cheap version, with an 8.5 hour battery. It’s sole defining feature? An “integrated hinge with smooth movement.”

Samsung N210/N220

Both of these netbooks feature a crystal design pattern, a 12 hour battery, and the Phoenix HyperSpace “instant on” quick boot environment. You also get Phoenix’s FailSafe software that lets you track a stolen PC.

There’s no real information about what sets the N210 apart from the N220.

All four models should be available in early January in the US, Europe, and Asia. No word on pricing yet. More pictures after the break.

  1. I think I will officially stop reading any Pine trail netbook announcements. I just can’t get past the snake oil salesman aspect of the “new” Atom. It’s like have a big juicy steak (long battery life) and then after eating it, you have another fresh steak brought to you (even longer battery life). Sure it’s nice to have more steak but you’re full. A dessert (speed) is a lot more desirable. Pine trail can eat me. Intel accomplished their mission. Stunt the growth of netbooks. Pine trail isn’t worth the price of the paper or the bandwidth that it’s getting. It’s a farse. My last comment is that it’s a total joke for any company to release an update processor that offers no speed increase. Because of that, Pine trail stories should ultimately be banned from the internet. That wouldn’t happen, but that sums up how I feel about it. The fact that all the manufacturers are releasing new netbooks supporting Pine trail makes me a bit suspicious. A complete and utter f’n joke.

  2. Meh, to be honest I would like to see some more of their CULV machines….I guess we’ll see those soon.
