We already know that Lenovo is working on a so-called smartbook, which will feature an ARM-based processor from Qualcomm. The Qualcomm Snapdragon platform enables 720p HD video playback, always-connected internet access (meaning you can receive emails and other notifications even when the device is folded up and placed in your bag), and other features designed to blur the lines between mini-laptops and cellphones.
What we haven’t known up until now is the name. But the folks at Chinese site 163 claim to have uncovered that detail. According to 163, Lenovo’s first smartbook will be called the Lenovo Skylight.
The article also suggests that the Skylight could feature an all-day battery, touch, and wireless networking capabilities. We’ll probably find out whether 163 has it right soon enough. I’d be surprised if Lenovo and/or Qualcomm didn’t plan to unveil more details about the device at CES, which starts next week.
