astro boy netbook

It’s cartoony, it comes with special goodies, and it’ll empty your wallet: it’s the limited edition AstroBoy netbook!

We’ve known this was coming for a while, though it looks like Brad’s first guess at the price point was a bit off. Rather than the initial $616, the collector’s edition package is going to run you about $900 (€600).

Curious about what nearly $1,000 gets you? In addition to the netbook’s custom shell, you’ll also score an external HDD, usb/card reader hub, speakers with remote control, 4G flash drive, and a certificate of authenticity. Oh, and a metal tin.

You can check out the whole package in the video clip after the break. For a fairly bog-standard netbook with $100 of accessories, $900 seems a little steep to me. Your thoughts?
