While the Asus Eee PC 1005PE got a lot of attention yesterday, it’s not the only new netbook from Asus. The company’s Eee PC 1005P will offer similar specs, but instead of a 250GB hard drive it will have just 160GB. And while the 1005PE has Bluetooth, the 1005P does not.
In the press release introducing these new models, Asus UK also mentioned a previously unannounced model called the Eee PC 1001P. There’s pretty much no information about this model, but I think it’s safe to say that like its siblings this model will have a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor.
I had seen a few reports about a similar model called the Asus Eee PC 1001HA. As far as I can tell, the Eee PC 1001 series is a slight variation on the 1005 series. Both have 10 inch screens and Atom processors. It’s not clear how the new model will differ from the other upcoming laptops from Asus, but it’s possible that the Eee PC 1001P could have fewer wireless options, a lower capacity battery, a different lid design, or some other distinguishing characteristics.
Update: Now with 100% more specs, thanks to Noti: 1.66GHz Atom N450, GMA 3150 graphics, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 802.11b/g WiFi, 6 cell, 4400mAh, 48Whr battery, Windows XP Home Edition.

Too many models just confuses everyone. Too many variants in different countries make it even worse.
Many are getting fed up of Asus.
Michael they gut down their portfolio by 80% and are doing just fine. Sorry but there is no confusion at all when you have 3 core 10inch models (1001, 1005, 1008)
