Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ Olympic Edition

When Acer launched its series of 11.6 inch thin and light notebooks with Windows 7 recently, there were three models:

  • Acer Aspire Timeline 1810T with a 1.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor
  • Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ with a 1.3GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core SU4100 processor
  • Acer Aspire 1410 with a 1.2GHz Intel Celeron SU2300 processor

Now there’s a new model in the mix: The 1810TZ Olympic Edition. Basically, it’s a standard Timeline 1810TZ except that it has the international Olympics logo on the lid. Oh yeah, and it costs about $30 more than the standard 1810TZ, at $579.99.

The laptop has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, 3GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive and runs Windows 7 Home Premium.

The Acer Aspire 1810TZ Olympic Edition is available for pre-order from Amazon. Interestingly, the non-Olympic edition is kind of hard to find these days, although B&H seems to have it in stock for $549.99.

  1. Well, it’s not always “the same” – with just a “logo”. At least in some Scandinavian country you can find the 1810TZ “OY” with the same spec. as the standard 1810TZ with the SU4100, but instead of 3 GB RAM and a 320 GB HDD, you get 4 GB and 500 GB HDD, and at least one retailer sell it at the same price as the 3/320 combo. However, I do agree completely that paying extra for just a small “logo” isn’t worth it; but if you paid the same but got more, and people thinking that you bought it just for the “logo”, well, then it’s their “problem”.

  2. Only foos fall for gimmick. All these Ferrari, Olympic, Vivian Tam etc editions have no meaning other than aesthetic.

Only feeble minded people get excited over such products.

  3. Olympic Edition Acers have been available in Canada (no doubt because of the games being in Vancouver) for at least a month now in both 1810T and 1810TZ flavours. Last time I looked NCIX had plenty of the 1810TZ in stock for CAD$550 although I believe that is a 2GB/250GB config.
