1810tz unboxed

Acer has several 11.6 inch laptops that look pretty much identical on the outside: The Acer Aspire 1410, Aspire Timeline 1810TZ, and Aspire Timeline 1810T. But under the hood, there are some minor but important differences:

  • The 1410 has a 5 hour battery, a dual core Intel Celeron SU2300 CPU, and costs $399.99
  • The 1810TZ has an 8 hour battery, a dual core Intel Pentium SU4100 CPU, and costs $549.99
  • The 1810T has an 8 hour battery, a dual core Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 CPU, and costs $599.99

I’m going to do a little public service announcement and point out that if you’ve seen one of these models unboxed, you’ve pretty much seen them all unboxed since the only real differences are in the inside. But with that in mind, German YouTube user Thorsten Biedenkapp has posted the first unboxing video I’ve seen of the Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ, so I’ve gone ahead and embedded it after the break. It’ll make more sense if you speak German, but to some degree, unboxing videos speak a universal language all their own.

You can also check out my unboxing video of the Aspire 1410 here.

  1. well looking at some reviews i have seen the battery life does seem to hold up to the claims.

This one claims 12.5 hours of idle time (wireless off, minimum brightness)and right about 6 hours of web surfing.

And the one here claims 8 hours and 45 minutes of run time on their web surfing test but this on the 1810T not the TZ.

With battery life like this and considerably more computing power than a normal netbook while keeping the same size and weight while not even being that much more expensive than a high end netbook im confused as to why Acer said they were unhappy with the series.

  2. what i am most curious about the 1810 is the battery life. It is listed as having an 8 hour battery. obviously Acer’s claim is likely generous, but is that supposed to be with wifi on or with it off.

    1. I bought the 1810TZ today, and in Windows when the battery was down to 84% it said there were 3h 30min left. I repeat, that was at 84%. So, no, I don’t think 8h is very realistic, unless the computer is completely idle.

  3. Christ, the guy spent half the video looking at the box / manuals FFS

    1. Yeah, but it is a lovely box with a nice picture of the laptop on it…….
