Microsoft is launching Windows 7 tomorrow, and dozens of new and updated notebooks, netbooks, and other computers running the new operating system will be available. But for users who are looking to upgrade their existing netbooks from Windows XP or Vista to Windows 7, there’s hope. PC makers are beginning to offer Windows 7 drivers for a number of existing models through their support and download sites.
You can already find Windows 7 drivers and utilities for most Asus netbooks at the Asus support page. And as jkOnTheRun’s Kevin Tofel notes, Toshiba just added Windows 7 download for the Toshiba NB205 to the company’s download site.
Here are a few other places to find Windows 7 driver and application downloads for various netbooks.
- Lenovo Support downloads (I’m not seeing anything beside the user manuals yet, but that could change soon)
- HP Support downloads (for the HP Mini 110, HP Mini 5101, and other models, including the discontinued HP Mini 2140!)
- Acer Support downloads (for the Aspire One 751, and Aspire one AOP531h only at the moment, although it looks like AOD250 downloads should be coming soon)
- Dell Support downloads (for the Inspiron Mini 10v, Mini 10, but not discontinued models like the Mini 9 or Mini 12)
- Samsung downloads (I see Windows 7 drivers for the NC10, but not the N110, N120, N310, NC20, or N510)
Let us know if I missed any important ones in the comments!
“for most Asus netbooks” – perhaps, but definitely NOT for one of their earliest hits, 1000H…
well they did made them availble even for the 1000h 🙂
What aboutSamsung netbooks like the NC10?
Good point. There do seem to be Win7 drivers for the NC10 and other Samsung
netbooks:

I was wrong, sort of. The only one I can find is the one shown above for the 1002HA/XP and this is only a BIOS update for Win7.
There are no listings for the 1000H for Win 7.
Anyway, i had Win 7 Beta working with Win 7 on the 1000H using XP and some Vista drivers where needed.
I wouldn’t expect Asus to support the 1000H which was released over a year
ago and discontinued months ago.
There are downloads for the 1005HA and 1008HA.
Any news on Samsung Netbook drivers for Windows 7?
I can’t find any evidence of Win 7 drivers on the Asus.com pages.
