It looks like Lenovo is finally getting ready to unleash the NVIDIA ION powered version of its 12 inch laptop, the IdeaPad S12. The company promised three versions of the S12 when it first launched the laptop this summer. One would have your standard Intel Atom N270 processor and GMA 950 graphics; another would have a VIA Nano chipset, and the third would have an Atom processor and NVIDIA ION graphics. But up until now only the first two have been made available.

Now PC Watch is reporting that the ION version will be available in Japan on Windows 7 launch day, October 22nd. The laptop features a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, NVIDIA GForce 9400M graphics, a 12.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI output, 2 USB ports, a card reader, and a 6 cell, 6 hour battery.

In Japan the laptop will run about $760, but it’s expected to sell for about $200 less when it becomes available in the US.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S12 will join a small group of existing laptops with NVIDIA ION graphics including the HP Mini 311 and Samsung N510.
