astro boy netbook

When was the last time you saw a popular trend that didn’t lend itself to a promotional tie-in. Burger King Japan launched the heart disease-inducing Windows 7 Whopper to commemorate the launch of Microsoft’s new operating system. And with the Astro Boy movie hitting theatres soon, PC Home in Taiwan is selling an Astro Boy-themed netbook.

The netbook is a limited edition special with an Astro Boy logo on the lid. As far as netbooks go, it’s pretty standard fare with a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, 802.11b/g WiFi and Windows XP Home. The laptop sells for about $616.

There are also accessories emblazoned with Astro Boy imagery including a carrying case that looks a bit like a lunchbox, a USB hard drive, USB Flash drive, Mp3 player, and DVD burner.

  1. It has nice artwork on the back. It seems like a lot to pay for when one is just getting a picture on the back. Are the accesories also included or sold separately? Are there Astro Boy type programs included in the netbook?
