easy peasy 1.5

The folks behind Kuki Linux weren’t the only ones busy pushing out a major update recently. Easy Peasy, (formerly Ubuntu Eee) turned 1.5 this week.

Easy Peasy is based on Ubuntu Linux, but the interface and drivers have been tweaked to add support for a wide range of netbooks. Easy Peasy 1.5 is based on Ubuntu 9.04 and uses a version of the 2.6.30 Linux kernel tweaked for fast startup times on Intel Atom powered netbooks. The latest version includes:

  • A smaller hard drive footprint
  • New ext4 file system
  • Easy installation from a CD or a USB stick
  • Ubuntu security updates will be available immediately without overwriting Easy Peasy-specific settings

Easy Peasy 1.5 is available for download from the Easy Peasy homepage.

  1. Looks just like Jolicloud. Are they related, or is that the Ubintu Netbook Remix showing through?

    1. It’s the Ubuntu Netbook Remix interface, although Jolicloud is
planning on dropping that interface and extending its own UI through
      the operating system soon.
