stone neo

Every now and again a netbook comes along that’s so unremarkable that I can’t recall having seen the thing at all before. Fortunately, just before I started writing this article mentioning Pocket Lint’s recent review of the Stone Neo netbook, I did a quick search and noticed that I first wrote about this little laptop in April.

It looks like the specs haven’t really changed since April. The computer has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display. 1.6GHz Intel tom N20 CPU, 2USB ports and an ExpressCard/34 slot as well as an optional 3G module. Pocket Lint says the netbook has a decent matte display and a “reasonably good” keyboard. The Stone Neo also has a few shortcut buttons for launching the web browser, webcam, or email applications. The touchpad is reportedly a bit on the small side, but that hardly makes this netbook unique.

According to the review, the battery averages about 3.5 hours of run time, which is sub-par at a time when there are at least half a dozen netbooks that get 5-6 hours or more. It sells for about £316 or $525 in the UK.
