n510 nc10If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my time covering the computer industry, it’s that when a PC maker makes an announcement in one country, it doesn’t necessarily hold true across the globe. Case in point: Yesterday a Samsung USA representative informed me that the company was waiting until after Windows 7 is released in October before launching the Samsung N510 laptop. Today, Netbook News in Germany reports that the NVIDIA ION-powered laptop is already shipping in that country.

Netbook News has a series of unboxing photos, including a few images of the N510 next to the classic Samsung NC10 netbook. The two laptops actually look a lot alike, but the N510 has a larger, 11.6 inch dislay, a wider touchpad, and of course NVIDIA graphics.

No word on how the laptop performs in terms of graphics or battery life yet. But if you want to see around 2 dozen photos of this laptop that won’t be available in the US for a few more months, hit on up the Netbook News gallery. The images come courtesy of Joerg Ingenbrand.

Update: Netbook Italia reports that the N510 is also available in Italy.

  1. It’s ION LE (which is ION without DX10-Support), because that’s the only way you can sell it with the cheap XP-licence (Microsoft doesn’t allow it otherwise).
