u210 blogeee

The MSI Wind U210 is a 12 inch laptop with an AMD Neo processor. It looks a lot like an oversized Wind U100 netbook, and it’s actually the second laptop from MSI that I can say that about. The first is the MSI Wind U200, which is a 12 inch laptop with an Intel CULV processor.

Neither model is available int he US yet, but French site Blogeee managed to snag a Wind U210 this weekend and work a little unboxing and first look magic.

The machine has a 1.6GHz Neo MV-40 processor, ATI Mobility Radeon X1250 graphics, a 12.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth and a 6 cell battery. It comes with either 1 or 2GB of RAM, and a 160GB or 250GB hard drive, and is available with Windows XP Home or Windows Vista Home Premium. I’m going to assume the Vista version qualifies for a free upgrade to Windows 7 until someone tells me otherwise.

The laptop appears to have a SIM card slot, but as far as I know there’s no 3G modem in the basic model. The computer also has an HDMI port, so someone at MSi expects it to be able to handle HD video output.

You can check out the unboxing video after the break or hit up Blogeee for more pictures.

  1. Be careful with the case, though, since the wind is not terribly secure and can slip out, you can lose your notebuk, and have to get a new one. Yeah. That happened. But the rest of the assortment is pretty good.

  2. i think msi is trying to go with the momentum because they’re giving out 5 units of the u210 in a contest. its gonna be in mid november i believe and something to do with designing the u210 skin/cover. from what i hear more info will be posted on their website once they’re ready. msimobile.com. crazzyyy!!

  3. *sigh* I wish some of these netbooks would use ATI devices that are actually still supported by the company in terms of Linux drivers. Obviously there are open source alternatives to the proprietary drivers, but unfortunately those are still light-years behind ATIs.
