s121

The Asus S121 is a 12.1 inch laptop with a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor and a 1280 x 800 pixel display. The laptop isn’t part of the Eee PC lineup, but it sure looks an awful lot like the Eee PC S101’s big brother in terms of design. Asus first showed off the S121 at CES in January, but it’s not available in the US yet. But Czech site Extra Notebook managed to snag one recently, and you can find a detailed review on the site (or the Google Translated version, if you prefer).

Like the Eee PC S101, the S121 has a plastic and metal alloy case. Extra Notebook was impressed with the large keyboard and touchpad. Unlike most netbooks, the laptop has Ethernet and VGA ports on the rear, thanks to a battery that sits flush with the bottom of the laptop.

On the down side, the reviewers were disappointed with the slow hard drive, sluggish processor, and GMA 500 graphics, which had problems powering video playback on the high resolution display. In fact, the reviewer found that the Eee PC 701 with a 635MHz Celeron processor and 800 x 480 pixel outperformed the Asus S121.
