Let’s be honest. Most netbooks on the market today sport the same specs. They almost all have 10 inch displays, 1.6GHz Intel Atom processors, 1GB of RAM, and 160GB hard drives. But a select few have additional features like 3G antennas, SIM card slots, and TV tuners. Of course, those extras will usually cost you… but not always.
Enter the C200 netbook from China, which packs a built-in TV antenna (and presumably a TV tuner?) and a SIM card slot (although it’s not clear if the default configuration also includes a 3G modem). According to Shanzhai.com, this netbook sells for the equivalent of $220. The netbook also has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. There’s also an open PCIe slot inside the netbook, which could be used to add a 3G modem if one isn’t already included.
The C200 will likely be sold as an OEM device, which means that it could be rebranded and sold under a different name in China or the west, although it’s also possible likely the price would go up.
Also a large, fairly well placed right shift key, a windows key (for those who want one) and good, old-fashioned beveled keys (not chiclet).
