podcastThen you’re in luck. Because I joined a group of mobile tech bloggers to talk about that very topic this afternoon. And we recorded the whole thing as a podcast which is available for your downloading or streaming pleasure.

On the podcast are Chippy from UMPC Portal, JKKMobile, Sascha from NetbookNews.de, Warner from GottaBeMobile, Xavier from Notebooks.com, and Ben from UMPC Portal. As it turns out, there weren’t a lot of Apple enthusiasts in the bunch, so I’m not sure you get the most balanced picture. But considering we’re all spending a lot of time talking about something that admittedly, we know almost nothing about, so you should take the whole thing with a grain of salt anyway.

You can listen to the whole conversation by hitting the play button after the break.

  1. I would not underestimate stupidity when it comes to this device…if it is real.

People keep saying, “It needs a niche” or “It must/must not be like an iTouch.” It is all bunk. Apple people will buy a slick product that provides iTouch feel with a bigger screen that shows more. To say they wouldn’t argues that people WOULD NEVER buy a 10″ netbook when those 7″ ones two years ago were SO HANDY.

Apple need bring nothing to the table except a flashy white-washed device that looks sexy. They need think no further then a device that has “big boy” applications that work on a bigger screen bought for a few bucks from a slick AppStore.

Don’t over think this idea folks, don’t analyze it to death. People need reasons to buy things…nobody ever said they needed good ones! The fact that anyone could do what I just said is irrelevant. IPhone has been out what 14 months and nobody is even close except Android…which flubbed its launch or couldn’t create a reality distortion. If Apple jumps in with both feet they will stand up just fine, Apple screws up when its hedges like with Apple TV.
