We already knew that Linux PC seller System76 was having a hard time keeping the Ubuntu-powered Starling netbook in stock. Now maybe we know why. Blogger Jane Hadley picked up a Starling netbook last month and wrote up a detailed review of her first Linux netbook. She came away quite impressed with both the hardware and software. She said the Ubuntu Linux software was easy to use, and the netbook had enough power to run several programs simultaneously without slowing down.
As netbooks go, the Starling doesn’t have the best specs around. The battery’s only good for about 3.5 hours, and the 0.3MP webcam is a bit subpar. But for the $359 asking price, the System76 Starling netbook seems like a pretty good deal.

I wish they’d add a 9 inch Ubuntubook to their line. I think the demand for something like this has been underestimated.
