After months of trading barbs, calling each other names and, you know, filing documents in court, it looks like the trademark dispute between Psion and Intel has come to an end. The two companies have settled the case with Psion voluntarily withdrawing all of its trademark registrations for the term “netbook.”

In other words, bloggers, computer makers, and pretty much anyone else can feel free to use the word “netbook” without fear of litigation.

Neither Psion or Intel is accepting any liability in the case.

Today’s statement from Psion confirms a rumor we heard over the weekend that the two companies had reached an agreement. So kudos to Blogeee for getting the scoop on that.

There’s no word on why the companies decided to settle the case “amicably,” but my guess is that Psion wouldn’t have settled unless things weren’t going its way in court.

Update: Intel has confirmed the settlement.

Or maybe unless Intel made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
