Lenovo is officially unveiling the the IdeaPad S10-2 netbook, which is a slightly updated version of the IdeaPad S10 that has been available since last year. News about the S10-2 first leaked over a month ago, and the laptop’s user manual has been online since early last week. So I’m not exactly surprised by today’s announcement. You can find all the details at Notebooks.com, but here are some of the highlights:
- CPU: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270
- Display: 10.1 inch
- RAM: 1GB
- Storage: 160GB
- OS: Windows XP Home
- Connectivity: 802.11b/g WiFi plus optional 3G modem
- Battery: 6 cell
- Price: $349.99 without the 3G modem / $399.99 with
In other words, the main differences between this model and the original Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is that the S10-2 will come with a 3G option and all models will have 6 cell batteries that Lenovo says should provide up to 6 hours of run time. The computer also comes in white, black, pink or gray, with a textured design on the lid of each version.
why release a netbook that could’ve been released last year? disappointed…
I would have to agree with both of you. The thing that was holding me back from the original S10 is the dumb right shift key. And now they’ve gone and messed up the aesthetics. Dangit Lenovo!!!
Why the glossy lid, Lenovo? The S10 was by far the best looking netbook out there all it needed was a keyboard revamp and a higher res screen.
Didn’t the original S10 have the same up-arrow-before-the-right-shift-key problem as the original Asus? That’s why I never really considered buying one. If the picture in this post IS the new S10-2, it looks like they may have finally fixed that problem.
