Here’s a roundup of a few news items that don’t necessarily need their own post. So here, we go… presented with limited commentary:

Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix RC released

The folks at Canonical are expected to release Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope next week. This is the first version of the popular Linux distribution to come with an official Netbook Remix version (previously you had to download and install the Remix package yourself). Ubuntu Netbook Remix basically has everything you’d find in the standard Ubuntu distribution, plus a custom program launcher designed for small screens, a utility to make sure most apps run in fullscreen mode, and optimizations for the Intel Atom CPU.

You can download the release candidate of Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix now. Just select the UNR USB image.

The Asus Eee PC T91 convertible tablet style netbook is the first Eee PC to feature a touchscreen display. It’s due out in a few weeks, but the folks at CNet UK’s Crave got some hands-on time with a pre-release unit.

  1. Frankly, I’m stupified that Liliputing didn’t get more hits than all the other sites. I’ve been to all of them reading about netbooks, and Liliputing has several orders of magnitude more information than any of them do. Liliputng leaves them in the dust…. well, Wikipedia has a pretty good bit of info, but Liliputing is the only source for comprehensive late-breaking news 🙂

  2. Wow, you beat newegg AND yahoo?! I thought this place was my own little find. Way to go.

  3. Re: “Liliputing is one of the top 10 destinations for people conducting netbook-related searches”, it’s a big #1 for me… Kudos!

Now please help me decide between an Eee PC 901 and 1000 :->

  4. I hadn’t actually seen all that much what Asus had done with their touch interface. I have to say I’m impressed, it looks really well thought out. Something to look at more closely…

Also, congratulations on beating newegg.com! Well done.
