The Acer Aspire One D250 is a lot like the Aspire One D150. Both have 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel displays, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drives, and run Windows XP. But while the D150 has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, the D250 has a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor. That .06GHz isn’t going to make a world of difference in performance, but the N280 CPU also has a faster front side bus and consumes a little less electricity than the N270 which should help provide better battery life.
The Aspire One D250 first showed up on Acer’s UK web site a few weeks ago. Now it’s available for pre-order from at least one retailer in Japan. Sofmap is taking orders for 49,800 yen or about $502 US. The store says the laptop should begin shipping around April 24th.
The D250 will probably cost a lot less if and when it’s released in the US.
