It’s great to see more companies taking notice of netbooks and realizing that a slip cover or a portable DVD case aren’t necessarily the best ways to carry these tiny laptops around. Higher Ground Gear is pushing a new laptop case called the mini-Shuttle that’s designed for 9 or 10 inch netbooks. One of the things that sets the mini-Shuttle apart from other cases is that it doubles as a portable desk. You can unzip the mini-Shuttle and use your netbook without ever taking it out of the case.
At first glance, this looks like a nice little case. it can handle computers up to 10.2″ x 7.2″ x 1.25″ and it has a separate pocket for batteries, power supplies, or other accessories. But I’m not entirely sold on this never take your laptop out of its case idea. Because really what you’re doing at that point is adding size and weight to your 3 pound, 10 inch netbook.
The mini-Shuttle will set you back $34.95, although it’s temporarily out of stock.
Not a bad idea … except for when my eeectl oc’d netbook burns a hole in it..
Bad product name, IMO, as it implies that it is made by Shuttle, Inc. (maker of small form-factor desktops)
I agree with your take on the “never take your laptop out of the case” notion. I ended up getting the Solo Tech netbook specific bag and love it thus far, it’s just big enough for all my crap for work, here’s a little write-up with pics i did on it a while back;
