HP sure does know how to ship computers and components in pretty boxes. The HP Mini 1000 comes in a sleek looking black box with a pretty picture of the netbook on the top and information about the computer on the side. And the HP Mini 1000 extended, 6 cell battery comes in a box that’s just as pretty. But as you can see from the picture above, things look a bit different once you open the box. I suppose it shows that HP has faith in the durability of the battery.
Liliputing reader Kiteless ordered the extended battery from HP and has posted a bunch of photos on Flickr, including a few unboxing shots and a number of images comparing the battery to the standard 3 cell HP Mini battery. There are also a few photos of the battery next to a 1 dollar bill. It turns out the HP Mini 1000 batteries are almost exactly the same length as American curency, although the batteries are quite a bit thicker.
You can find a photo slideshow of Kiteless’ pictures after the break, or check out the photoset on Flickr for full sized versions.
I am assuming it will last about 6 hours then??
Yo those are my photos. I love my Mini 1000. It has the best keyboard on any netbook including the Eee 1000HE, but it is plagued with a tiny battery. I love its thin profile, so it is certainly a trade off. But it all fits in the sleeve and I like to carry the least amount of stuff with me as I can. SO over all I am happy with it and don’t mind the added bulk/weight. And it does get quite a bit heavier. Hope the photos are useful. – Kiteless
Does a robotic arm come out of the box to throw a crumpled receipt in your face?
Oh yeah I forgot to mention. The battery came with a crap ton of papers. I didn’t read any of them. But I glanced at one and it said something about making sure to dispose of the battery properly. – K
I’d settle with toting a second 3 cell. That thing sticking out the bottom mucks up the otherwise totally sexy lines of the HP Mini.
Just a note, the 6-cell battery is also now an option when you are configuring an Mini 1000 for purchase from HP.com.
I still say it is too big,
important to note that the box it comes in says it’s a 6 cell lithium polymer battery…when in fact, the battery itself says it’s a 6 cell lithium-ion battery
