Buy.com is offering a great deal on a refurbished HP Mini 1000 series netbook. the HP Mini 1030NR has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 576 pixel display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1Gb of RAM, a 16GB solid state disk, 802.11b/g WiFi and runs Windows XP Home Edition.
If you order a netbook with this configuration from HP.com, you’ll pay about $370. But Buy.com is selling a refurbished unit for $280, including free shipping.
You can read more about the HP Mini 1000 in the Liliputing Product Database. Or you can check out my full review of a similarly specced netbook.
Ecost is offering the HP 1035NR for 299.99. I just picked one up.
Maybe it is just me, but it seems like more vendors are offering 1024 x 576 instead of 1024 x 600. Anybody know why?
Apparently these screens are cheaper and more common at the moment. I
imagine this probably has something to do with portable DVD players.
But as netbooks become more common, you’d think that computer makers
could play a larger role in the price of these displays — but they’ll
only do that if they sense enough dissatisfaction with the lower
resolution displays.
How much for the extra 24 vertical pixels?
– $20 or $40. The 8.9 inch screen has a x 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.
The 10.1 inch screen comes in 1024 x 576. HP doesn’t seem to have a
10.2 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel option. (I feel like they used to, but I
could be wrong).
