According to a Samsung representative in France, the company could be planning to release several new variations of the Samsung NC10 netbook in the coming months. The company has conducted surveys and determined that there are five or six distinct groups of target customers including a version of computer newbies, one that’s a bit more feminine, a computer that’s made for small and medium enterprise or office use, a trendy model, and one with improved audio including a 2.1 sound system.

It’s possible that all this means is we’ll see a series of new colors for Samsung NC10 netbooks this year, perhaps a sleek black or aluminum-colored model for business use, and a Hello Kitty model. But it’s also possible that Samsung could play with the specs a bit for each variation, or decide not to release any of these models.

  1. The NC10 is sitting proudly at the top of my shopping list, however they’re losing me. I’ve already put off my purchase until hearing more about the forthcoming Amazon exclusive model.

This latest news has me thinking that the nice single-model NC10 is going to be fractured into a million eee-pc-like pieces.

  2. Is the Samsung NC10 Special Edition (high capacity battery, large touchpad, and glossy screen) considered one of the variations?

In any case, it is strange that only Amazon.com would offer it. I would rather buy it from Newegg.

  3. instead of using Netbook… we could use the term M-book, or M-TOP, but due to the Netbook name and it legal use status, we need to come up with a new name quickly.

  4. Brad,

Was the “hello kitty” reference inserted for my benefit?
