Dell officially unveiled the new Inspiron Mini 10 mini-laptop at a news conference in France this week. Netbook 3G was on hand and snapped a few photos of the new machine, including a comparison of the Mini 10 and the Asus Eee PC 1000H Asus Eee PC 901 Go.
The netbook has a nice wide keyboard that looks a lot like the HP Mini 1000 or HP Mini 2140. It also has a wide touchpad with no buttons. The mini-laptop is a little longer and wider than the Eee PC 1000H Eee PC 901, but the Dell laptop is thinner than the Asus netbook.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 has an Intel Atom Z530 CPU, a 10 inch screen that comes in either 1024 x 576 pixel or 1366 x 768 versions, making this netbook ideal for multimedia playback. There will also be an optional TV tuner and GPS device.
Vodafone Australia tells me that Dell are having 3G hardware issues in the Inspiron mini 910 and they are investigating recurring problems for this product. I’m currently waiting for a response from Vodafone to see if this product will be recalled due to Dell’s failed attempt’s to fix this hardware fault.4/12/09
When will the TV tuner and GPS be available, Can’t wait.
I’m waiting to see what the 6-cell battery looks like as well as how long it lasts. I think the 6-cell version of the Dell mini 12 looks better than that of the HP mini 2140, so maybe the Mini 10 will have a similar design.
I think Dell and HP both should have followed the example of the 6-cell Eee PCs and Samsung NC10 and made the 6-cell standard for a more ergonomic and aesthetic design.
I would really like to see this along side the HP 2140 since they have the same screen resolutions and similar looking keyboards
doesn’t look like an edge-to-edge screen to me
That’s marketing speak for no plastic frame/border in favor of edge-to-edge glass. A lot of laptop vendors are doing it now. It looks edge-to-edge when off!
Glad my Mini 9 was free…..
That keyboard looks big! Er, well tall at least…
And HDMI… wonder what the weight and battery life is like -rubs hands together-
