The HP Mini 1000 netbook has a standard SD slot for extra storage. But some models also have another expansion slot that’s basically a little USB port that can take a proprietary HP flash drive that sits flush with the edge of the netbook.
HP charges $25 for a HP 4GB Mini Mobile Drive, but the folks at the My HP Mini forums have discovered that the drive is really just a Transcend JetFlash T3K drive with a little lid on the end. And it turns out, you can pick up an 8GB Transcend drive for under $25.
Of course, 8GB still won’t get you very far these days, but twice the storage for about the same price is never a bad thing. via Portable Monkey
I just received mine last week and installed it…works like a champ, effectively doubling my 8GB drive space, which I doubled again with the Transcend 16GB SD card.
