The folks at Laptop Magazine were some of the first to get their hands on an Acer Aspire One AOD150 netbook. You know, the one with the new 10.1 inch display. And when they posted their review of the laptop a few weeks ago, they reported that the machine got excellent battery life, running for almost 8 hours on a charge.
But a funny thing happened on the way to production. The review unit that Acer sent Laptop Magazine had a 6 cell, 5800mAh battery. The company’s actually shipping 6 cell, 4400mAh batteries to customers who purchase the Aspire One AOD150. And when the reviewers ran th esame battery test, the computer gave up at the 4:24 mark. That’s not bad by last year’s standards. But there are plenty of other netbooks out there that get 6+ hours of battery life. Few are quite as cheap as the $350 Acer Aspire One, but if battery life matters to you, what’s an extra $50 or so?
Just got my new Acer 10″ from Amazon last week and I love it. I was lucky and got one of the “good” batteries and I’m getting 8 hours of battery life per charge. Runs all day instead of the 2 1/2 hours I got from the 8.9 inch model I bought. Luckily the 10 inch model came out in time for me to return the 8.9 inch model and exchange it.
I just got my 10.1 inch Acer AOD150 with 6 cell battery from AMAZON and I ran it from 2pm till 10pm with no problems on one charge. It is so much better than the previous model which gave me about 2.5 hours.
I purchased the 8.9″ AA1 last year and I have a 6 cell battery which actually gives me 6 + hours of battery per charge. I knew it would be some trade off when the screen size was increasing and the price was staying the same. Lets face it the 8.9″ model is the better purchase if you can find one.
Nice bait & switch…
