The other day I reported that HP seems to have added a few new models to its netbook lineup. The HP web site lists support documents for several computers with the HP Mini 11xx name. Since the only other netbooks in HP’s lineup used the HP Mini 10xx or HP Mini 21xx naming convention, it stood to reason that these were new machines, and several people pointed out that the HP Mini 1100 series documents showed that the netbook had an ExpressCard slot.

But apparently it was a typo after all. I just received a note from an HP spokesperson explaining that “the 1100 models are simply other SKUs within the 1000 series.” The only differences from other HP Mini 1000 models will be things like display panel size, hard drive capacity, or other basic features. ‘

The HP web site should be updated shortly.
