olpc-os-9

Sure, there’s a lot of big mobile computing news coming out of CES this week. But Vegas isn’t the only place where you can find some pretty awesome netbook-related news. For instance, a member of the OLPC News forums posted an awesome guide to running Mac OS 9 on an OLPC XO Laptop.

Sure, it’s not quite as useful as running OS X on a netbook. But it sure adds some geek cred to an already geeky device. In order to install OS 9, you first need to install Ubuntu 8.10 on the laptop, and then you can follow the steps in the guide to load OS 9, which will allow you to run older versions of Apple software, including MS Office on an OLPC.
