The folks at TechRadar have confirmed that Acer’s rumored 10 inch netbook is real, and it should begin shipping in February. The image above is taken from a Macles article from earlier this month. Unfortunately while TechRadar says it saw the new Aspire One netbook at Acer’s booth at the BETT 2009 trade show, they were unable to snap any photos.

The new mini-laptop reportedly looks a lot like the 8.9 inch version of the Acer Aspire One, but you know, it has a larger screen and keyboard. Possibly the most exciting change is in the touchpad layout. Instead of having mouse buttons on the side of the touchpad like the original Aspire One, the new model has a button below the touchpad. I’m not sure if the new machine has two distinct buttons for left and right or a single button with a rocker. I’m hoping for the former, but kind of expecting the latter based on TechRadar’s description.

The netbook will come in red, white, and black colors, sport s 10.1 inch, 1024  x 600 pixel display and have optional Bluetooth and 3G components built in.

One reply on “Acer’s 10 inch netbook coming in February”

  1. Curious about the price. Just saw that for a limited time CherryPal offers a remarkable deal: $399 for two computers, its C114 desktop and its new 10.2 display Bing netbook. Although this is a short-time teaser, it suggests that competition (and bad economic times) may hit prices harder than most of us had anticipated. I am embarrassed to remember what I paid for my college-aged daughter’s latest Mac laptop. And I like bing cherries as least as much as Mackintosh apples.
