smoothbookSmooth Creations provides custom, automotive-grade paint jobs for computers. A few months back the company dipped its toe into the netbook space by offering a souped up Acer Aspire One running Windows Vista. Now the company is back, with the Smoothbook Slice, which is basically an MSI Wind U100 netbook with a custom paint job.

Like the Wind, the Smoothbook Slice has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB HDD, and Windows XP Home Edition and a 3-cell battery. It also has a 10.2 inch display (which is inaccurately described on the company’s web site as having a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. The netbook actually has a 1024 x 600 pixel display).

Smooth Creations charges $499.99 for the Slice, which is about $150 more than you’d pay for an MSI Wind without the paint job, or $70 more than the price of a U100 with a 6 cell battery.
