samsung-nc10Samsung is reportedly working on its successor to its popular NC10 netbook. At first blush, the NC10 didn’t look like anything too special. Like many of its competitors, the netbook has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, a roomy hard drive, and a 10.2 inch screen. But thanks to excellent build quality, superb battery life, and a better than average keyboard, the NC10 has become one of the more popular netbooks among mini-laptop enthusiasts.

So what does Samsung have planned next? Honestly, I don’t know. But French site Blogeee has received some information indicating that the company will release several new models in April.

I’d be more surprised if Samsung wasn’t working on a sequal to the NC10. But it’s nice to know that we’ll see new models in less than half a year, even if we don’t know what features these new netbooks will have just yet. My money’s on a lighter weight machine, possibly with a touchscreen display. And if we’re lucky maybe a dual-core processor or an NVIDIA GPU.

  1. While we’re dreaming, I’d like for the next Samsung 10-incher to look at least as good as the NC20 but not glossy, and it would be nice if hardware drivers for Ubuntu would be available.

  2. You’d think since Samsung is a manufactures of SSDs they would offer that option next time. And, your right they should get that Nvidia chip into the next unit for sure.

  3. You guys joke around too much.

PLEASE focus on Samsung NC10’s weaknesses in the upgrade, such as a larger trackpad. I refuse to buy one with such a small trackpad. An external USB mouse is not the answer in a system which is supposed to be a netbook (ultra small and portable……..it defeats the purpose of carrying a mouse with you if it adds bulk to your travel)

  4. If it jumped a resolution size, it would almost certainly be 1280 x 768 or 800. It could even be 1366×768. Budget screens are virtually all widescreen now.

  5. Whatever it is should maintain at least 5 hr battery life. 1024 x 768 resolution and better sound would be nice.

  6. In this crowded “samey” market it would need to be something special… Dual core would be nice… But what about battery life?

  7. the netbook with a 18.4 inch display, blue-ray driver etc, even better.

  8. C’mon, Higher Resolution! I’m rooting for you as well! Nvidia, higher res, better trackpad makes this a sure thing for me.
