We’re partnering with Hoda Technology to give one lucky reader a solderless touchscreen kit, complete with step by step instructions for installing the touchscreen in your netbook. So please use a valid email address when leaving your comment. We’re willing to ship internationally, so the contest is open to anyone anywhere in the world. Just make sure to get your entries in by the 5th.

    1. Anyone won yet 😉 Hey guys, could really use this for my MSI Wind 🙂

    1. What the… What time zone are you in? Did I miss it? It’s still the 4th here, I swear!

  3. A touchscreen kit for my Samsung NC10 would be a fantastic early christmas present!

  4. I’m reading for the challenge of getting this touchscreen on my Aspire One. Bring it on.

  5. I would be the happiest man on earth if I am selected to get a touch panel kit. The modding I have done so far is that I have soldered a mini PCI-e connector on my inspiron mini 9’s WWAN space and have been succesfully using 3G using Novatel modem. Now I am working on to install Mac OS X. Getting the touchscreen plus the GPS module would complete my mini project with my favourite mini.

Thanks for giving me a chance.

  6. SHIT How many comments are there. I Bet you there all full of shit to. I got a simple way of doing this, just pick me and get it over with.

  7. Ah .. a touch screen would be very nice — do i need to specify a left or right handed screen?

  8. Hi,

Yes I’d love to try one of these touchscreen kits, my wife, daughter & I have own netbooks and I was looking for a novel way to help my daughter with her school work whilst using her netbook – this would be so so cool and give me plenty of brownie points with BOTH of them!

None that I know of Down Under yet!

  18. it would be great for my samsung nc 10, but i would like to know more about it.

    Thanks.

  19. I just got an Eee S101, and I am very positive about the trend toward touchscreen, not only because it is cool, but because it can facilitate education and other purposes.

  20. Okay, I’ll bite. I’ve been researching the ‘best’ netbook that can run osx AND has a touch screen/multi touch mod.

Here’s to a good new year, Steve Job’s health, my new Nikon, my new netbook running OSX (since Apple don’t want to get into the low profit products), economic recovery and lots and lots of running!

  21. I’d like to see how accessibility improved with a touch screen on my netbook. And the trend starting from OLPC will make netbook into “People’s notebook” (not in the originally designed path though).

  22. Great giveaway. Put my name in the hat. Been looking to add touch to my Wind since I bought it, but have been slow to sign that check. Count me in.

  23. The one and only thing I wanted, but did not receive for Christmas!!! Please pick me!!!

  24. Fingers crossed, hoping to be the one. Yes please, I will take the red pill!

  25. I don’t own a Netbook but If I win a touchscreen I will be buying an NC10 for it 🙂 Heres hoping I will be buying a nice shiny netbook!

  26. Commenting for the touchscreen. Got a dell mini that this would go wonderfully with…

  27. Would love to get one of those as well! Happy New Year 2009 everyone!!!

  28. I have got a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and even before I bought it, I was hoping they would have a touch screen mod for it. This is the first I have heard of one, here on lilputing. Thank you.

  29. I have an MSI Wind on order and I look forward to modding it out with this touchscreen.

    Thanks Liliputing

  30. Hi, I have pimped my netbook to 2GB RAM and a Sata 250GB HDD 7,200rpm and a Wireless N network card. It rocks big time. These touchscreen kits look amazing and would cetainly complete the kit 😉

  31. Liliputing was touchy,
    And Hoda Tech as well,
They wanted to give touch screens,
    To make our fingers swell.

    They started in December,
    To make our saliva drool,
Even if I win or lose,
Happy New Year is my rule!!!

    🙂

  32. Great giveaway folks…

  37. I’d love to add touchscreen to my acer aspire one. Even if I can’t win one I would still like to purchase one. How or where do I get one?

  38. Love the feel, feel the touch! Bring on the finger pokin fun 🙂

    Regards,
    Lee

  39. I live outside the USA (sort of … isn’t canada the 51st state by now?) and it is rare to see a contest open to non-americans.

I feel like I have won, just being able to participate! Although, winning a touchscreen for my 1000h would be awesome.

  40. I want it to. I just got my new Packard Bell Dot ( is exactly the same as Acer Aspire one) and would be very happy with a tochscreen kit. In other words, pick me!!

  41. Wow! Another contest! Thanks Brad!

A touchscreen for the Acer Aspire One would be great!

  42. Oh pretty please smile upon me lady luck. I want this for my dell mini 9 to make it a viable car navigation system. It works that way now but dealing with the touch pad…yuck. The touchscreen will really make the mini a great navigator, hopefully the universe will choose me! (oh and I’m not above a good deal of brown nosing either). Thanks for a great web site.

  43. I’m heavily using my Samsung NC10, will be my main notebook for 6 weeks travel to ship (now to New Caledonia). Using with Win7 beta, started thinking about touchscreen, but still need time to have card ready

  44. Hi,

We are anxiously awaiting the new Samsung NC10 that has been ordered for our daughter. She has cerebral palsy, apraxic speech disability and spastic quadriplegia (along with seizures). She is a smart beautiful preteen. I currently create speech programs for her computer use. We wanted a more affordable option than what is found through special needs equipment devices. The Samsung NC 10 was definitely more affordable. Even more appealing, are the added bonuses of the ultra mobile portability as well as the being computer and speech device in one. She currently uses a two step switch to operate her programs, but we would love to try out a touch screen as an alternative. So we simply are leaving our names in the hat to be considered for the touchscreen!

  45. I have a Samsung NC10 on its way. A touchscreen sounds like a great first mod to it!

  46. 1000H in the USA.

Thanks liliputing and Hoda Technology for the chance to win.

  47. Been contemplating buying a touchscreen for my Dell Mini 9… Winning one would work too! Thanks

  48. Awesome. I’m getting my Acer Aspire One exactly on that day! Sign me up for the contest! 😀

  49. I’ve been seriously lusting after one of these since I received my Wind as an early Christmas present. I’ve already upgraded the memory and am considering a few other hacks (internal 3G data card possibly) but the touch screen would be truly epic!

  50. Woah! I was wishing to have this with my new One (coming on the 6th!) but didn’t have the money. It would be really cool if i win this one – I never win anything 🙁

  51. If it can be made to work with my Lenovo S10, I’d love to have a go at it.

  52. Awesome contest! Wouldn’t try hacking the dell mini 9 =) Good luck to everyone!

  53. I would love to win one of these, I just got my new dell mini 9 the other day! I review mine a little bit on my site.

  54. i volunteer if you are looking for someone to install this on an acer aspire one. ill provide feedback and pictures of my progress.

  55. This sounds like a great way to modify my MSI Wind. I already converted it to a Hackintosh (which runs great!), so a touchscreen would be the next logical step. Thanks, Liliputing!

  56. im entering the contest for the touch screen kit!

    500 navarra way se
    albuquerque n,m, 87123

  57. This would be perfect for testing the upcoming Windows 7 Beta. Crossing my fingers over here!

  58. Touchscreen would be awesome on my 901!

    I void warranties hehehe…

  59. I just bought a Samsung as a quick fix when my old lappy died, and only now did I just hear about the new ION platform as I’m simultaneously discovering the limitations of current gen subnotebooks. I would love I have a kit like this to help make up for my netbook’s lukewarm performance.

  60. hi
add me to the contest list.
enjoy the blog and watching how netbooks are evolving

  61. as i have just received my eeepc 900ha i will appreciate liliputingians their kit for my laptop. 😉

  62. I’m getting an MSI Wind for work (Lord willing), and I plan on installing Mac OS X (for which I have a valid paid-for license), and adding the touch-screen (and pumping the RAM up to 2GB) would just be icing on the cake. Thanks for the opportunity.

  63. Got a nice aspire one, all set up lovely. One thing I am missing is a touchscreen mod and these kits look the business.

  64. Lack of a touchscreen is really my only complaint (if you can call it that) I have regarding my 1000h, this screen would fix that very nicely.

  65. I am thinking about getting 900 for modding so this would be great. Would be nice for my aspire one too though. I always want to touch the screen as it feels like a better way to interact with computer and works with small screens.

  66. Hello folks
Im very excited to add a touchscreen on my Acer Aspire One 160gb, WinXP, Im very happy with it but I do believe that it is time to toss away the keyboard and go full touch

  67. What the hell, 1 in 62 chance…Been looking to upgrade my Eee for a while now.

  68. I would quite like one of these but i do not know if it will work with my Lenovo s10 as of yet dont see why not so count me in too pls

  69. I would really like to have one of these for an MSI Wind U100!!
    Thanks!

  70. I’ve modded my MSI Wind. Added a 320GB drive, dell 1390 wifi card, quad booted- with XP Home, Vista Ultimate, Kubuntu, and OSX. Don’t have a touch screen yet so this would be nice. Thanks for the contest.

  71. I own an Asus Eee PC 1000HD. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that this is by far the best notebook I have ever owned. I do miss tablet-features though….

This would make my life so wonderful 🙂

  72. Put my name in the hat! I love touch screens, and I’m reasonably competent at taking things apart and putting them back together. 🙂

  73. sweet!
a touchscreen would be pretty great on my one!
    exclamation marks!!!!

  74. Hello! I want one! I am a big fan of netbooks even that in my country, Romania, we don’t have all the netbook models. Until now i worked with Asus 701, 901, HP 2133 and Acer Mini One. I am very happy everyday to enjoy and work with one of this toys. Now I have an Asus 901 and i really want to transform it in a touchscreen model. Thanks for the opportunity.

  75. Cool! I’ve got an Acer Aspire One that I’ve been using and evaluating for use in schools (for performing assessment tests). Adding touchscreen capabilities would help in understanding how kids who need assistive support might benefit. Thanks, liliputing and Hoda!

  76. I will be getting my MSI Wind next week. Will get this touch screen next & mod it.

  77. I posted a comment but don’t see it. I would love a touch screen for my Samsung! Wish me luck!

  78. I would really like to upgrade my Asus eee 1000H to a touchscreen. Thanks for running this contest.

  79. I dont need touch screen actualy, so you could just send me some money.
    thanks.

  80. I want this! I didn’t ever want to buy another computer that wasn’t a touchscreen, but the Aspire One was so stinking cheap I couldn’t hold out.

  81. My acer aspire one would love to have one of these! *actualy its my wife`s nettop, but never mind*

  82. Just ordered my NC10. Would love a touchscreen kit for it. Man it is hard to type with your fingers crossed. 🙂

  83. I see several Asus Eee 1000 models listed as being compatible, but not the 1000HA. Hope it was just an oversight. Just got one and would love to add a touch screen to it.

  84. Been waitin for this for awile, would love touch screen with the net book interface, maybe even try Firefox Fennec with a touch screen.

  85. gee, that’s nice !
I really would like to have a touchscreen for my Samsung NC10 netbook

    thanks and good luck everyone

  86. OK. Leaving a comment. Please add my name to the pool. I’ll decide which model, if I actually win (as I don’t have a netbook yet). AAO would be my preference at this point (since I’ve seen the 1GB/120GB models for $299). The touchscreen combo would make it the cheapest touchscreen model with a regular hard drive (non-SSD). I think I could live with that 🙂

  87. Free? Random drawing?
Brad, you now have one at my gaming skill level, count me in. 😉

  88. I just got an MSI wind for christmas and i love it! i would really appreacitate a touch screen!

  89. I would love to have the opportunity to add a touch screen to my NC-10.

  90. Sounds like a cool piece of kit…. and he who has the most shiny toys wins right

  91. It would be great if I got randomly picked for this one. The only modding I have done so far with my Acer Aspire One would be 16GB SDHC card to increase disk size. And I haven’t seen any touchscreen kits sold locally here in the PH. Anyways it would be interesting to see how the Acer Aspire One would work with this kit, and probably with the 7000 Pre-beta release of Windows 7.
