s10-6-cell

Looking for a Lenovo IdeaPad S10 with a high capacity battery? Then I certainly hope you live in Germany. Because the computer maker is shipping the IdeaPad S10 with a 6 cell battery in that country, while customers in the US and other locations have to settle for a 3 cell battery which provides 2-3 hours of battery life. Eee PC News reports that the netbook also has a starting price of 329 Euros, making it the cheapest netbook with a 10.2 inch screen and 6 cell battery in Germany.

The 6 cell battery has to be one of the ugliest I’ve seen so far, and it looks more like a weird growth on the back of the compute than an organic part of the machine when it’s plugged in. But hey, it should double your battery life, right?

In related news, Lenovo has begun selling “large capacity” versions of the IdeaPad S10 in the US. For an extra $50 over the price of the base model, these units come with 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive, both of which are twice what you get on the “general computing” models.

  1. i am from singapore and just got my 6 cell red s10. it is very cool. upgraded it to 2gb

    1. Hi Marie, I wonder beside internet surfing, can the S10 works well on photo editing software such as photoshop or lightroom? or the processor just can operate on simple application?

  2. it so sad lenovo is not up to trend of the us market with these netbooks…with a 3 cell only makes a consumer like me to buy other netbooks with 6 cell like the samsung nc10.

  3. And all God’s people said, “Amen.”

I have been waiting patiently for this S10 to get the stupid 6-cell battery. Germany’s price is pretty reasonable for Americans (considering what an S10 high capacity costs with a 3-cell), not that I’d import. I’ll have to wait till Christmas for mine.

  4. I like Lenovo a lot, but a 6-cell battery is the least I’ll consider in a netbook.

  5. Well, at least it doesn’t stick exclusivelly from the bottom; also from the back (not quite as good as in Thinkpads with enlarged batteries, but almost…). And it seems that 9cell (or bigger…) batteries also have place to grow from the back (not bottom), thanks to screen hinge placement…

But still…no trackpoint, absolutelly nothing that isn’t already available in other netbooks.
