Wireless carrier VIBO has partnered with MSI to offer customers in Taiwan the ability to pick an MSI Wind U90 netbook for “free.” And when I say free, I mean you have to pay for the netbook up front. But you then get a discount on your wireless data service which brings the price down to $0, but only after 30 months.
The plan includes a Bandluxe C120 3.5G network card and an MSI Wind U90. MSI is not taking the approach that Acer, Dell, and Asus have taken by adding an internal 3G modem and SIM card slot.
It looks like you can choose between a netbook with 512MB or 1GB of RAM, but you have to pay a bit extra up front for 1GB model. They’re both “free” after your 2.5 years is up.
