The first pictures of the upcoming MSI Wind U120 laptop are hitting the web, and it sure does look pretty. The folks at Fudzilla managed to dig up 8 images of the next generation netbook from MSI.

As previously noted, the Wind U120 will have a 10 inch display, an optional solid state drive, and a slightly more angular case than the MSI Wind U90 and U120 which feature rounded edges. Fudzilla says the U120 will come with the option of a 120GB HDD, or a 20GB or 40GB SSD. It will also come with 802.11n wireless and an internal 3.5G modem.

Other than the new case, SSD, and new wireless options, the Wind U120 will be a lot like the Wind U100. it will pack a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, a 10.2 inch 1024 x 600 pixel display, and 1GB of RAM.

  1. If I recall correctly, 1GB of RAM is the maximum permissable for inexpensive Windows XP licences under Microsoft’s “Ultra inexpensive PC” program. So whilst makers could allegedly produce machines that support 2GB of RAM, they can’t ship them with that amount. That will have changed and MS could have decided that 1GB of RAM is the maximum that will be supported. In reality , some of the HP reference materials for the Mini one thousand indicate that it will not work with over 1GB of RAM, but those are rather hit and miss in practice ( they listed a 1024576 resolution, which in reality applied to the screen on the Mini 2140 ).Half off discounted laptop computers

  2. Sort your lives out MSI.. the ctrl key is still to the right of the fn key. It just isn’t right..

  3. 20GB = 16GB + 4GB and 40 = 32 + 8. Now that I’ve dazzled you with my arithmetic ability, do you think this may mean that the Wind U120 will have dual SSDs like the eeePCs?

    1. I certainly hope not. This could be one of the ways MSI sets its product
apart from the Eee PC line. But using a faster disk for the OS and a slower
one for storage is certainly one way to keep production costs down.
